updates 19 May: so, did a hard reset to the device last night, and just completed the various setup, and installing the PointUI...what's left is the cestar software and we'll see how long the battery would last...in fact, after this refresh, the response time of navigation appears to be much faster...
ever since i installed pointui on the htc touch, i realised that the battery drain is very fast...
a check on their forum shows there are other people experiencing the same thing.
i refrained from using bluetooth, vibration mode, weather update but the battery could not seem to last more than 1 day.
so, i'm going to do something drastic, reset the htc touch, then reinstall the pointui again. i might even have to get a new battery.
i had it fully charged before i went out today, but by about 3pm, the battery indicator were down to 1 bar! and i closed pointui!
i don't have the sync cable with me, it's in the office, so would have to reset the device next week...
updates: i was still able to run the old version - somehow, and well, it appears it looks better with the border ... heehee. secondly, yes, the Contacts portion is already improved over the original one with windows mobile!! with this in place, I can uninstall CNetX Face Contact application! with this in place, i could also uninstall the Slide2Unlock!
i came across the following from newsletters, magazines:
i like both of them, and iLaunch cost USD12.95, and certainly cannot beat that of pointui which is Free!
I have just downloaded and installed version 1.5 for pointui, and about the only thing i prefer the older version is the home screen. Now, there's this border that surrounds the Tasks, Appointments - i shld have screen capture the old one for comparison - but anyway, i don't quite like that border...i have to get used to it though :P... it's not just the price, but the whole ui experience is really good ... wonder if they would extend the theme to Contacts...?
as for iLaunch, the only thing i like about it is the vertical slide unlock -
unlike iPhone which is horizontal slide - and i thought a vertical slide seems logical that while you hold the phone on say the left hand, your thumb should be free and long enough to slide up, oops, down and unlock the screen, rather than using the other hand to do so, imagine your right hand is carrying groceries! other than this, i don't really need something to look like iPhone, i would prefer something to be different from iPhone... :P
take a look on the left for the Windows Mobile 2003 iLaunch since I'd uninstalled from my HTC Touch. yes, there is a version for Windows Mobile 5, 6 and 2003. This screen shot was taken off my iPaq 2210...
