updates 11 May - didn't know that i had set this to personal!!
i had thought it was going to be a full day session but in the end, it was just half day, and so, since i was at SUNTEC, i took a half day leave, and went to Funan Centre to collect the digital photo frame. as i thought it being a full day, i didn't bring along my laptop, but i brought the power cable for the digital photo frame and a SD card containing photos.
i went for lunch at MacDonald's, and SMS a colleague that I was sitting there watching life pass by...
in fact, i had downloaded so far nine episodes of the podcast of "The New Earth" which is hosted by Oprah, as to why i'm attracted to this, it's not just because there's podcast and i could watch/listen on the ipod touch, but it serves as a complement to the book as well as the topic is meant to be spiritual rather than religious...i tend to find this more compelling than "The Secret".
the session starts at 9:30am, and as i was walking along the underpass, i was listening to the podcast and taking my time since it's still early, while watching the rest of the people passing me by ... while most of them took the escalator, i took the stairs ... i noticed this sign on the wall that indicated "58 steps stairs"!! and it hit me that if i was late, or not listening to this podcast, i would probably not have taken note of this sign!
and at MacDonald's, i sat there and watch those people passing by ... and life is quite a rush, and because the adults are living such a hectic life, that as if like a contagious disease, our children are too living a hectic life ... and i feel bad that my children might grew up thinking - "what was my childhood like?"
the fact now is, would i be able to slow down? i would like to but i'm not living alone, am i?!

after all the walking from the MRT to the designated place, my throat was dry so i decided to drink tea or coffee ... and i sat down in front of a tv showing the interview of Marie Digby, and i thought, hmmm, she's beautiful...and i thought i also saw my ex-girlfriend, and well, i needed very much to soothe my throat...so, i didn't have that urge to go confirm it's her...

just the other day, as i was browsing the Fujitsu web site, i came to realised that there is an accessory called Modular Battery Bay, which is essentially a battery that i could slot in and take out the DVD drive. i had written an email to the company that i had bought the laptop but didn't get any reply, and was quite pissed off at that...but somehow, i seemed to be feeling quite good - not sure if it's the result of listening to the podcast (downloading Chapter 10 at time of blogging) - but that's S$380 in the credit card bill and possibly 6 hours of battery time? we'll see...

I called MacDonald's thinking to order for dinner, the guy at the other end told me it would be 75 minutes before i could smell the burger!! 75 minutes, not 25 minutes!! i told the guy i'll go and buy myself...so, i went to the nearby Mac and came back home all within 15 minutes!! my wife said it's probably because it's dinner time...hence, the long waiting time...
... had to lecture my children, that Happiness is contagious, and whether they prefer their home to be filled with happiness or unhappiness as either one of them is contagious...
... was watching John Q, Denzel Washington, James Woods, Robert Duvall...powerful cast...now that i have children, i'm moved by this movie...

LIFE...
to U Channel this evening, and it was showing "Shoot 3" 有话就说3, and one of the guest was the Singapore Idol contestant, Maia ...
and after hearing the her few comments, i just could not continue to listen to her and switched to another channel.
i have to admit i cannot understand her view.
heck, i can't accept her view as an appropriate way of life, and i'm not sure if that is a positive model for children, her own children! - she has a child but she's not married, and she intends to have another child but not with the same man!!
...
well, she's entitled to her view and how she wants to live her life, but for goodness sake, don't deprive a child of a proper family...and still persist that a single parent is not a problem ...

my parents' generation looked at my generation and they wonder what the world has become ... we are so rebellious, no manners etc etc...
my generation, today, looked at the younger people and we wonder what the world has really become ... they are more rebellious, they lack more in social civility, lack in social manners ... etc etc ...
then, you realised it's a passing phrase ... once they reached adulthood, and once the guys went through their national service, their attitude would quite certainly change, well, hopefully for the better, yeah, better common sense ...
having said that, you would hear or come across young parents and their way of life, and you just feel like giving them a slap to slap some sense into their narrow mindset ...
wrote about my dream in the previous post, and the following passage came to my mind:
Is there some meaning to this life?
What purpose lies behind the strife?
Whence do we come, where are we bound?
These cold questions echo and resound.
Through each day, each lonely night
We long to find the splendid light
That will last a revelatory beam
Upon the meaning of the human dream.
