i posted a youtube about this guy who wrote a piece of software to emulate iPhone functionalities on a Pocket PC...
today, i came across a so-called iLock, iSlide software, I installed onto my Pocket PC, iPaq 2210 and here's what it looks like - see below: (I used the new Panasonic to take, but please excuse my skill...)
the URL to get the software is http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-slide-2-unlock-v1-14.html
iPhone is only going to come to Asia in 2008, and by then, seriously, how the mobile phone market would develop is anybody's guess...we are using 3G, by then, it could be 3.5G or 4G, while iPhone is on Edge?
i wonder how many in Singapore ever heard of Edge before Steve Jobs made the announcement.
personally, even if iPhone supports 3G, i doubt i would buy one (unless i got money no where to spend, maybe buy one and display :P ).
first of all, i'm already disliking designs of Dopod or those broad-kind of phone, it looks funny with such a broad thing by your cheek, kind of like the big brother model of the past.
secondly, it's touch screen, i use SMS a fair bit, and while i could do it with one hand, i doubt i could manage SMS with iPhone with one hand. i'm not really too keen on the camera, it's a good to have but not necessary feature for me.
thirdly, and this is my prediction (i had blogged about this somewhere else before), that iPhone would evolve, eventually to a full-featured PDA, running Mac OS #. If the current model runs Mac OS X, the notion of a full-featured PDA like device is not too far-fetch, i figured. You need those Core Duo machines to run Mac OS X, and they are putting this OS onto a phone? It has to be a stripped down version. Mac OS X mobile?
in any case, while reading other articles, i came to know that LG already has a model, so, kind of looks like APPLE copied from LG...
and is it really true that you do not need a stylus?! and hopefully, they roll out a model with a screen that is not as easily cracked or scratched as those iPods...
in any case, I feel APPLE is far behind in this Asia Pacific region, and many people change handphone like changing clothes, and by the time iPhone comes here, don't you think Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG and others would already have done something?
have you seen the Nokia N76? looks like Motorola V3...and well, while whatever Windows has, Mac already has it, and so, whatever iPhone has, other brands already have them...with SMS, who needs voicemail? Voicemail is so, so, out-dated! SMS is noiseless, imagine trying to leave a voicemail is the noisy bus or mrt!?
one last note, I'm happy using a stylus!
